Fernández, honored for his excellence behind the cameras and his general recognition
Luis Fernández, former president of Univision Studios and RTVE, will be honored with the Talent Award by the Television Academy of Spain, which recognizes the professional excellence behind the cameras, announced the organization last Friday. The honorees also include general counsel Silvio González of Antena 3 TV, and Paolo Vasile of Telecinco. The award ceremony will take place around November 21st, International Television Day.The Board of Directors of the Spanish Academy secretly voted on the 2013 Talent Awards from candidates nominated by Academy members and the Board itself, which is presided by renowned journalist Manuel Campo Vidal. To be eligible to this award, the nominee has to have had a brilliant career behind the cameras with wide recognition.Fernández was president of RTVE until November of 2009, with important achievements under his belt, among them, elevating a public channel to become the most watched network in Spain. A month after leaving RTVE, he went to head the newly created production unit Univision Studios, and in December of 2010, he was also appointed President of Entertainment of Univisión, jobs that he served until this month with important achievements such as the tenelovela Eva Luna, the reality ¡Mira Quién Baila! and the Sunday show Sal y Pimienta.
